'Production is broken' Survey

While the contents of this survey by 'Production is broken' are sadly unsurprising to many of us (I first wrote about this in 2018), it reinforces the urgent need to value and invest in Production Managers. The PM role not only provides vital scaffolding to realise a production's creative vision, but it also includes a huge amount of invisible labour supporting the wellbeing of staff and crew. The fact that the career path and pay for PMs aren't equitable with other senior production roles is rooted in an outdated patriarchal value system of what is 'important' or 'specialised' in production and has no place in contemporary broadcasting.
