Today on the MA in Production Management we examined live Studio Risk Assessment

Pretty straightforward forward you might think but it turned out to be an absolute cracker of a session. Using prompts from the reflective toolkit I have designed as part of my doctorate (which focuses on the use of reflection by PMs), students evaluated not only what to include in a RA to ensure all safety aspects were covered, but also considered if the questions asked by a standard RA are enough?-for example, how can we evaluate' fatigue' without acknowledging the long hours inherent in production-should we stay macro and focus only on the specific filming requirements or use points raised in a RA to have wider conversations about mental health, well-being and the environment? This led to such a rich discussion as the students used their reflections to re-examine the experience of completing a Risk Assessment- moving beyond the
original intent and existing process, and integrating new knowledge. Production Management as a subject is endlessly thought-provoking and wow do I have an amazing cohort!
